There have been tears, laughter, disbelief, hysteria, and discomfort.
In. Just. The. Past. Week.
I kid you not.
Each day, I have sat down to write, only for something else to happen.
I have plenty to write about.
But First:
My email box is flooded from readers all over the country asking about Sarah Palin, McCain’s pick for Vice-President.
It was a great day for Alaskans.
It was exhilarating to watch my Governor walk across the stage and be introduced to the world as the possible United States Vice President. As my awe faded into realism, I had to ask myself: Is this choice the best for our nation? This is a historical moment for American women. However, when the applause fades, we have to ask what’s next? We must consider the serious questions that are already being asked. Is she ready? Is she the best person for this position? What was McCain thinking when he made his choice?
I’ve been asked by ChaseNKids readers if I think she’s ready to be the Vice President.
My answer?
No.
I’m not a political strategist. I’m Non-Partisan. A Mother of four, a wife, a human being trying to keep my family afloat during this rough economical time. My opinion is just that. An opinion.
As this campaign unfolds, one can’t help but feel nostalgic. As a biracial woman, a MOTHER, I can honestly tell my children and even myself… we do not have to limit ourselves. Whether our goal is to be the President of the PTA or the President of the United States…
We can achieve it!
And that…is not only phenomenal, but glorious.
Comments are open.
Thoughts?

The HIP T Winner is:
ELIZABETH!
Congrats Elizabeth! I will be sending you an email on how you can claim your prize.
I’ve been asked how I pick the winners for the ChaseNKids’ Giveaway. Sometimes the Advertiser picks the winner and their techniques can vary. When I pick the winner, I use random.org. It basically shuffles the names and picks one for me.
I wish the explanation was a little more scientific and glamorous…but as with everything else in my life, I try to keep it simple. (While just LOOKING glamorous.)
And with that…HAPPY SATURDAY!

I pose the same question to my fellow readers and bloggers:
What are some of the things that you appreciate? What makes you smile, even when you didn’t think you could?

Over the weekend, I attended a Cabi Party. I had never been to one and had no idea what a CABI even was. I assumed we’d be browsing through a collection of 1950’s checkered cab memorabilia. Possibly James Dean posters and figurines as well. With that in mind, I agreed to go.
The party was held at my friend Katie’s mom’s house. Her mom’s house is GIGANTIC with ceilings close to Mars. (Or Uranus. HA HA. I always wanted to say something like that, but it never seemed appropriate. Like now. TOTALLY NOT APPROPRIATE.) I mingled with the ladies, most from the Republican Women’s Foundation and found myself talking to one out spoken lady who was all about the Right. And being right.
I mentioned that while it seems I lean more towards the right, I also sway to the left on occasion. Sometimes my hair just looks better on the left. We ended the conversation with my saying if being a Republican meant believing Rush Limbaugh hears from God, then hmm. I don’t know.
She wasn’t amused.
The clothes presented were WAY OUT of my price range. And while I understand the quality of clothing should beat out quantity (sounds like something I’ve said to the husband regarding something else…) I can’t fathom paying $125 for a blouse. Sure it is going to last longer. But would it really? Because if I were to pay that much for a blouse, I’d be sleeping, showering and whatever else I want in it EVERY SINGLE DAY.
While the women went crazy trying on clothes, I managed to hold a four week old baby while the Mom looked through the outfits. One of the Cabi ladies who was all of a size zero and a little on the intimidating side, came over and told me she’d take the baby. She stated I needed to go try on the clothes.
“No, I’m good.”
“No, really. Give me the baby. Go try on the clothes.”
I turned my back, not out of rudeness but OUT OF PROTECTION and said, “Seriously. I’m good.” I wanted to add, “Please leave. You are scaring me.”
When my friend asked if I had fun, I said yes. So much so, I’m going to host a Cabi Party in October.
But when no one is looking, I’m going to add some outfits from Wal-Mart.
For entertainment purposes. And then when someone is trying on slacks, I’ll shout, “Look! Uranus!”

I have a limited number of jeans because most jeans in my size are hip huggers. Thirteen years ago, I would have been all about the hip hugging jeans. If I decide to wear them, without the support of control top pantyhose or a girdle, I’m tripping over my stomach. And while the jeans certainly fit with the rib damaging girdle I’ve managed to squeeze into, it isn’t a pretty sight.
Which is why I was pleasantly surprised to find HIP T’s. I’m wearing one right now. (Jealous?) My ribs are doing a happy dance because this cotton hipster fits around your waist hiding the dreaded muffin top without breaking a rib or collapsing a lung.
Of course, for the youngsters who are wearing the cute little tank tops and G-strings, the Hip T’s are a must, because you will still look sexified without a stranger being glorified. (Or horrified, whatever the case may be.)
One lucky ChaseNKids’ reader will receive ONE Hip-T. The drawing will be Friday, August 22nd, 4pm EST. All you have to do to win is leave a comment to this entry. Easy.
